What
the society is about...
IThe Society's
main aim is to promote Horticulture and to try and encourage
and support as many people as possible to grow their own flowers,
fruit and vegetables. This is not necessarily all about producing
prize specimens although if you like a challenge and a bit of
healthy competition its well worth the effort. The fun of selecting
and showing items in the Summer Show is that magical combination
of tension and satisfaction.
However
there is nothing more rewarding that to sit down for a meal
knowing you have grown some of the
vegetable or salad on your plate while admiring a bunch of flowers
you have picked from your own garden.
The second
very important role the Society has to play is to organise the
village Summer Show that takes place in August each year at
the village hall and recreation ground. Our aim here is to try
and encourage as many local residants to enter into the spirit
of village life and support the show and continue the long established
tradition. We want to try and involve the community to embrace
the one main event that takes place in the village each year.
