Summer Show - Saturday 8th August 2009

Welcome to this year’s Summer Show Schedule. We have all fingers and toes crossed for good weather this year. Although just in case we have booked a slightly larger Marquee.

We are always looking to improve the Schedule and have added a few new items. A water lily, one bloom floating on water in a container of your choice. Chilli peppers run through the programme with a class for beginners and for the experts. We also have Chilli Jam in the cookery section, not really eaten as a jam but perfect with cold meats, cheese or as a dip. In the vegetable section you will be able to use your artistic skills and enter an amusing decorated vegetable (with the emphasis on fun). Plus we are running the Tallest Sunflower Competition open to everyone in the parish, for full details please see the separate page in the Schedule.

We have arranged a talk & demonstration by RHS Judge Len Stebbings on presenting flowers & plants exhibits for the Summer Show, definitely worth coming to if you want to learn a few tricks of the trade. Blackboys Village Hall Wednesday 27th May 7.30pm - Free

As we stress every year if anyone would like to become more involved with the Summer Show or the Society we are always looking to welcome new members or volunteers. Please feel free to contact me or any of the committee if you can help, even if it’s only for an hour.

The Fun Dog Show at the Summer Show now includes 4 Pedigree Classes with a Best in Show Pedigree Rosette, 9 Novelty Classes (including Junior Handling 6-11yrs & 12-16yrs)with a Best Novelty in Show Rosette and 1 Class for dogs who haven't won a Rosette on the day. We will also be including All-Comers Terrier Racing - Heats include Terriers under 12 inches, Terriers over 12 inches and any other breeds (large and small). Give your dogs the opportunity to show how fast they are, chasing the lure to compete with like-sized dogs. Noisy, but fantastic fun! £1.00 per entry.
